Bio

Born and raised just outside of Washington, D.C., Miami-based drummer Tyler Pons has shared his soulful and energetic playing with audiences since his early teenage years. After his start playing drums in rock bands when living in the Czech Republic, he transitioned to the jazz idiom and developed a uniquely expressive style of playing upon moving back to the US.

Pons has played many prominent venues across the US, including Blues Alley, Mercury Lounge, Moroccan Lounge, Schuba's Tavern, An Die Musik, Union Stage, and many more. He has toured and recorded with artists such as Nep and Nuclear Monkey, and performed extensively with José André, Mathiun Smith, Peter Edelman and Elijah Jamal Balbed.

He is currently studying jazz at the University of Miami’s esteemed Frost School of Music.
